  • Center of a bounty of local wine and produce
  • Urban metropolis with world-class attractions and venues

Local Lifestyle

Sacramento has a thriving cultural scene and a strong economy underpinned by state employment opportunities. The neighborhoods of Sacramento range from old tree-lined streets and classic Victorian homes to newer, more modern suburbs to luxury apartment living. Located almost equidistant from the San Francisco Bay area and Lake Tahoe, Sacramento is a truly excellent place to call home.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Sacramento is located in some of the most fertile lands in the nation, and the local restaurants take full advantage of their access to fresh local food.

A Sacramento staple is Ella Dining Room and Bar, a family-owned business that has been committed to creating fresh and innovative dishes featuring the highest quality ingredients for 20 years.

Those looking for a mind-blowing breakfast, lunch, or brunch experience should look no further than Bacon & Butter. With unique twists on diner staples, this place is said to have the best burger in town.

Sacramento shopping does not disappoint at the Pavilions Shopping Center. This premier luxury shopping destination is home to the area's most trusted merchants, exclusive brands, and sumptuous dining experiences.

A hip, modern take on traditional shopping and event space, the Ice Blocks are located in the city’s coolest neighborhood, the R Street Corridor. This area evolved from a once-neglected thoroughfare of gritty warehouses and is now designed to break the confines of defined spaces and pay tribute to the city's indomitable spirit through public art, curated local businesses, and event spaces.

Things to Do

There is no shortage of activities for Sacramento residents. With world-class events and destinations, there is always something to do here.

A true Sacramento institution, the Golden 1 Event Center is the #1 arena in the world to be 100% solar-powered and achieve LEED Platinum designation. The event center provides a venue for a plethora of events, from concerts to sports to entertainment of all varieties.

Located at the junction of the American River and the Sacramento River, Discovery Park is a 302-acre park and a wonderland for boating and outdoor enthusiasts of all types.

First opened in 1927 and expanded in the 1960s to its current 14.2-acre size, the Sacramento Zoo inspires appreciation, respect, and a connection with wildlife and nature through education, recreation, and conservation. This nonprofit is dedicated to inspiring respect for all living things through educational programs, family recreation, and compassionate animal care.

Bicyclists will adore The American River Bike Trail, which runs for 32 miles between Discovery Park in Old Sacramento and Folsom Lake.
